Plan a Home Move
Interaction
When missing information materially changes the outcome and the host exposes a dedicated user-input or question tool, use that tool. Ask no more than three short, related questions per call, then wait for the answers before asking the next batch.
Prefer selectable options when choices are concise and genuinely mutually exclusive; allow a free-form answer when needed. Do not present a long questionnaire in normal chat. If no native input tool is available, ask one concise blocking question at a time. For non-blocking gaps, state the assumption and continue.
Build a command plan around the move date. Protect access to people, documents, medication, keys, and the first night's essentials before optimising boxes.
Make the date spine
Collect origin, destination, move date, access and handover dates, travel, vendor windows, building rules, people and animals moving, accessibility needs, budget, and current packing state.
Place fixed dates first. Flag gaps such as losing access before the moving vehicle arrives.
Create workstreams
Track separately:
- property and handover
- transport and vendors
- packing by destination zone
- utilities and connectivity
- address and account changes
- people, pets, school, or care
- first-night setup
Assign owners and dates. Ownership includes noticing and follow-up.
Protect essential access
Keep identity and travel documents, medication, keys, payment, chargers, basic clothing, hygiene, sleep items, and critical care supplies personally accessible. Do not place irreplaceable items in unaccompanied freight.
Build moving day backward
Use MOVING-PLAN-FORMAT.md. Name who holds keys, documents property condition, directs movers, manages dependents, travels with essentials, and receives at the destination.
Ask the country before stating address, tenancy, utility, tax, or hazardous-material rules. Treat legal disputes and contracts as matters for qualified local guidance.
